83485A is a photoelectric module. It consists of two measurement channels, one optical and one electronic. Each channel has two optional bandwidth Settings. The noise performance of the oscilloscope is excellent in the low bandwidth mode of 12.4 GHz, while the fidelity for high speed signals is higher in the low bandwidth mode of 20 GHz.
Integrated optical channels reduce variation in mismatch losses by eliminating signal distortion cables and connectors associated with the use of external receivers in order to accurately characterize optical waveforms. The optical channel is calibrated at 1310nm and 1550nm to provide an accurate display of the received optical waveform and the average power of the measured signal in optical power units. In addition, the user cal feature provides consistent accuracy using the power supply and power meter at any wavelength between 1200nm and 1600nm.
